After being on a much needed holiday for almost 3 weeks, we are back in Dubai – back to work, back to a busy schedule!! I can’t be the only one busy – the kids have to be preoccupied too. Keeping Julienne and Jameelah busy is easy since they are both back to school. Keeping Andre busy, however, is a challenge since he is left at home with no playmate! It’s a good thing my household help is great with him and loves playing with him too!
Aside from having a job that I love and am passionate about, there is more to me than meets the eye. There are numerous things that pique my curiosity and make me tick. To share more of myself and to give a glimpse of my life, I am happy to start the habit of sharing random things that make me give a thumbs up and smile on a monthly basis.
Now, let’s get the ball rolling!
Saturday is always my grocery day a.k.a. my ME time. But last week, I decided to change it up and take the kids with me. I dropped the girls off at Fun City IBN Battuta Mall while I did my grocery shopping in Geant. Why Fun City? Simply because they have a “playzone” for kids aged 4-12. It is every child’s dream come true with a soft play area with slides, padded obstacles and ball pool. After an hour and half, I picked them up and joined in on the fun as I enjoyed the rides and games with them. As a Mum who loves chance game shows, I particularly enjoyed the “deal or no deal” kind of game – hoping that I could add some more tickets for Julienne and Jameelah. Fun City can be crowded especially during the weekends; however, it is value for money especially when you have 3 active and vibrant kids. But if you do choose to avoid the crowds and let your kids spend time there on a weekday, go for a Monday since they have Fun Day Mondays where kids get to enjoy rides for only 1 AED. Security in Fun City is a non-issue since I feel comfortable leaving them alone in the play area as the staff there are so friendly and caring.
Recommended by one of my colleagues as a convenient way of determining diets for the whole family, I gave Hello Chef! a try. Placing an order is easy as you would just need to go on their website, www.hellochef.me, and choose the box suitable for your family size and your diet. Plus, they deliver right to your doorstep so no need to think of pick-up schedules! I got the Family box (good for 4 people) with 4 recipes. What I like about it is that I get to learn new recipes (despite not actually cooking) and I had 4 stress freedays where I need not worry over what to cook for dinner J I will definitely order again but I would love to see them add the option to choose which cuisine you would like to go for – knowing that Dubai has a diverse nationality with everyone having their own preference.
You can never go wrong with classic card games that instantly up the entertainment level of any family’s free time or spontaneous vacation. Watch Ya’ Mouth is a simple, hilarious, card-based game which instantly makes every member in the family laugh out loud. I’ve been wanting to get this family game in Dubai, but to no luck! I browsed the web and saw it in souq.com so I immediately placed an order; but I got disappointed with a reply saying that it’s not available! It’s a good thing I searched through amazon.com and got it there. It is a good bonding moment for us, and it got me and my girls laughing at each other’s face for at least an hour!
Dogs are a man’s best friend. They are like family to most. To me, they are like my children. I would like to introduce my other little boy named Maximus, a Maltese that is now 4 years old. Since I treat him like how I treat my little ones, I always love pampering him with the same love, attention and gifts. I came across this website called www.mypetshionista.com and found cute and affordable clothes for pets, specifically for dogs and cats. With the cold weather now in Dubai (yes it gets cold here ), Maximus needs something to keep him warm during early morning walks . I even want to go as far as getting the same scarf as him – just for us to be matchy – matchy.
