This winter let you child do some serious play! At MakersBuilders, we aim to ensure every child learns coding, electronics, robotics, 3D printing, music and digital art production, etc. in a fun, engaging and relevant way. Not in a decade from now, but NOW! Computational thinking and digital literacy are becoming as fundamental as reading and writing to our children’s success, regardless of what occupation they ultimately choose.
We are offering a series of classes for kids aged 7 to 18, spread over 2 weeks during our Winter Camp (Dec 20th to Dec 29th 2015). Refer below for more details.

Adventures in Programming (ages 7-10):
We want our student to have an exciting and engaging experience while learning computer science principles. We use popular visual programming tools like Tynker™ and Scratch from MIT Media Labs to engage and teach students programming concepts. Our classes are best suited for students aged between 7-10. However, we offer beginner, intermediate and advance levels with differentiated learning. Each student can progress at the their own pace.

Robotics, Coding and Electronics (Ages 8 – 13):
Students will learn basic programming by building an Arduino based robot and writing programs to control the robot. Visual Programming software is used to teach children computer science principles. Children will experiment with reading data from the robot sensors and develop programs to control robot action and activation of lights, motors, buzzer, line tracker, etc. Children can purchase their own robot to take home (AED 400) and continue exploration and project development at their own pace.

Mobile App Development with Visual Programming (Ages 11 – 18)
Students with a non-technical background are empowered to create stunning mobile apps with ease using Visual Programming interface. Students will use online software platform like Appshed and MIT App inventor to develop apps for android, iOS, and Blackberry and Windows platforms. Kids will learn to create a calculator app and/or a mall guide app. By the end of the workshop, we will encourage and assist students to create their own apps and also upload them on to the stores.

Explorer – Make. Code. Tinker. (Ages 11 – 18)
The Inventor workshop aims at igniting the ‘maker’ spirit in students through an exciting palette of technologies from 3D printing to Arduino programming. The ‘Making’ stage involves Introduction to 3D printing, modeling using Tinkercad and physical 3D printing. The “Coding” stage of the Inventor workshop introduces the basics of programming with Introduction to mBlock visual programming and Arduino programming. The “Tinkering” stage of the Inventor workshop fuels innovative thinking through practical projects like building a smart table lamp, simulated traffic light, auto fish feeder, etc.

Learn Python coding using Minecraft (Ages 11 – 18)
Students learn how to write code that interacts with the popular Minecraft game, building huge structures automatically, and adding their own intelligence by creating mini games within the Minecraft world. Students will also get their hands dirty with electronics, building their own game controller, using breadboards, buttons, flashing LEDs and a custom mini Arduino. Be assured, the focus of this course is learning Python coding, using Minecraft as an engaging environment and tool.
