Ramadan 2016 – Some News


Ramadan Begins,

We are happy to share that it has been announced that the UAE  Holy month of  Ramadan will begin on Monday, the 6th June, 2016. The new moon of the month of Shawwal 1437 AH as which marks the end of Ramadan will appear on Tuesday, July 5th, 2016. The sun will set on that day at the time of 7:05pm and thus the 6th July 2016 is the expected beginning of Eid al-Fitr and the month of Shawwa” (Source:http://prayertimesdubai.net/)

Public Schools Ramadan Hours

“Ramadan hours for public schools in Dubai and the Northern Emirates have been announced by the Ministry of Education. Boys’ schools will operate from 8am until 1.15pm, and girls’ schools will be in session from 9am until 2.15pm. Daily morning assembly will be cancelled during the holy month, but the first five minutes of the first period will be dedicated to the national anthem. In Abu Dhabi, where public schools are governed by the Abu Dhabi Education Council, boys’ schools will operate between 8.15am and 1.10pm, while classes in girls’ schools will take place from 9am until 1.55pm.” Source:http://www.thenational.ae/uae/education/ramadan-hours-for-public-schools-in-uae-set)

Private and Public Sector Ramadan Hours

“ABU DHABI // Private sector employees in the UAE will have their working days reduced by two hours during Ramadan. The announcement was made via a statement from the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources issued by Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Working hours for the public sector which were announced on Sunday will be from 9am to 2pm throughout the holy month.Companies are not required to follow the same timings as the public sector.” (Source:http://www.thenational.ae/uae/ramadan-2016-private-sector-working-hours-announced)
