Perhaps one of the most important, if not the most important, thing on Planet Earth is Education. In many ways, it is at the core of our world. It influences our decisions, mind sets, values, and even our passions. While school is a standard staple of the education diet, something that we notice slowly dwindling from the minds of children is an essential dosage of curiosity and introspection. We notice that children are too busy scoring accolades for shinier awards or racing to increase their certificate collection without necessarily focusing on developing character and self-examination.
To be well rounded and effective in life, it’s important to have a range of skills. Skills that allow for a reasoning, feeling and inventive mind to function. This is especially important in a fast-paced, demanding and constantly changing society. It’s essential that children dive into various experiences that challenge and push their boundaries. Keeping this in mind, The Gaia Centre encourages learners, children, and adults, to take a leap of faith into any creative skill that tickles their minds in order to let go of their inhibitions and add new hues to their personality.
We believe that when individuals are given a safe, non-threatening environment to start an inquiry into themselves, to explore their own potential, and grow, the possibilities are limitless. When given the opportunity to share, talk and understand that they are not alone in their journey through life, they develop a sense of belonging and camaraderie. This helps create a community spirit that allows everyone to make mistakes, not be reprimanded for those and thereby grow in all faculties of mind and heart.
Through courses in Drama, Communication Skills, Art, French and Spoken English, The Gaia Centre aims to create students that learn valuable practical skills by taking part in multiple showcases and events outside of class time throughout the year. This way students not only get the knowledge they came looking for but also gain a sense of commitment towards their own personal growth and learning.
Starting this September, The Gaia Centre has launched its new ‘Lunar Term’, a term that focuses not only on regular weekly classes but also giving a creative platform and voice to children, teens, and adults. Through their annual theatre production coming up in January 2018, learners also get a real-life experience in backstage production, makeup, costume & set design along with acting, writing scripts and performing in front of a large audience. A memorable experience that can shape all those involved.
With so many exciting things coming up this new term, to get the full scoop, you might consider attending The Gaia’s Orientation this Friday, September 8, at The Junction, Al Serkal. The event starts at 5:30 and will take all attendees through a journey that gives them insight into what it means to be a part of The Gaia Centre. It will be a fun and informative night. If you plan on bringing anyone with you, simply add their names and contact details to the email as well. Send your emails soon as the event does have limited seating.
As we mentioned before, Education is one of the most important, if not the most important, things on planet earth. The Gaia team puts their hearts and minds into the education of all of their students. If you are curious or would like to be a part of The Gaia community, definitely stop by the Orientation. The team hopes to see you there!
